Runners are bothered by a myriad of acute and overuse problems -- Plantar fasciitis ( heel pain), shin splints, knee pain, and back
pain, to name a few. These problems always seem to begin or get worse just before an upcoming race, and you're not sure whether
to just run through them or seek some professional help. That's why we're here for you. We can offer you some advice and
lead you in the right direction before your injury really slows you down.
There's one thing we know for certain -- taking a couple
days off is rarely successful in dealing with runner's problems.
When symptoms begin to occur, it's important to act quickly,
before things get worse. A simple change in shoe type, or combination of stretching and strengthening may be enough to solve
small problems before they become larger ones. Don't make the mistake of waiting too long to address these issues -- a
quick evaluation may lead us directly to the source of the problem. Taking an anti-inflammatory or resting for a few days may
only mask the problem temporarily and not address the real cause. We can figure that out for you and we will do our best to keep you
running. We have over 37 years of experience dealing with runners, from recreational to the All-American, and we have screened
over 1,000 runners in just the past year.
For more persistent problems, therapy services may be needed to bring symptoms
under control. At Concorde, we are able to offer a comprehensive spectrum of therapy services for runners who may have low back, hip
or lower extremity pain and dysfunction. If you need treatment, we verify your insurance coverage for you and can get you an appointment
usually within 24 hours.
You do not need a physician's prescription to call for an appointment or receive an evaluation. The cost is $45 and your visit will last
about 30 minutes.
Most importantly, our staff can guide you through re-introduction and progression of training to make sure
problems don't recur. Let Concorde be your first step in solving your problem. We will do our best to minimize your down time and
keep you running towards your goals. Just give Mark Mottice or Jason Vickers a call at Concorde if you have any questions or would
like to make an appointment.
