Pitching is a complex activity including not only the arm, but also the legs, spine and trunk (core)…all while maintaining exquisite
balance. With our expertise and experience in arm care and pitching mechanics, we can work with you and your pitching coach for the
most appropriate and thorough care possible.
Unlike many other sports, baseball and softball players struggle with relatively fewer and less “aggressive” injuries i.e. football
and traumatic injuries, basketball and ACL tears. However, the small/nagging injuries that other sport’s athletes would "play through"
can significantly effect the baseball and softball player. You may wonder why that is, but we know how difficult it can be to throw
a ball accurately and with velocity with arm pain of any kind.
Neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, fingers…they all play a significant
roll in throwing, and even the slightest injury can effect efficiency, accuracy and velocity.
When you have symptoms, it is important
to act quickly, before things get worse. A simple change in your warm-up routine, a tweak of your stretching or strengthening routine
or a simple pre-game and post-game arm care program can make a big difference. One thing for sure, don't make the mistake of waiting
too long. The season is short and needing to take “a few weeks off” can eat up a big chunk of the season. A quick evaluation could
lead us to the source of preventing a season-ending problem.
For more persistent problems, a full blow therapy program may be
needed to bring your symptoms under control. We are able to offer the ONLY baseball/softball specific rehabilitation program in the
area. From modalities such as deep tissue massage, mobilization, ultrasound, electric stimulation and iontophoresis to strengthening
and stretching programs. We also include pre and post game arm care program education, in-season and out of season strength and conditioning
education and video analysis. We offer a full spectrum of care to keep you in the game.
